Build not Break: A Few Thoughts

Good afternoon friends,     September 8, 2014 - -

Today's post is sort of random, But I have been thinking a lot about this.

*Please Note this post is not meant to offend anyone, but created as a learning experience*

I have been seeing a ton of photographers share how ugly someones thoughts can be, someone messaging them or posting to their timeline because of jealously or pure hate.  Today I am sharing with you what I think of this and how we should react towards this behavior!

Many times we look at someones photo and think "Ew that's an ugly photo!" or you can think "Mine is way better than that! Ha."   this is terrible! :( Sometimes we can even 'post' an ugly comment.

Please be mindful to hold in your thoughts,  you don't know how it will effect the photographer! We're here to help each other and to learn,  be there for someone when they need help.   So much time goes into photography,  waiting for that perfect shot happens quite often.  Not many people realize the aches and pains that go into a good photograph unless they try it themselves.

Have you ever had that moment when you get the 'perfect' shot and want to share it with someone? When you go to 'post' it, you expect everyone to really love it as much as you did? Yes. I'm guilty of this.  Then I end up telling myself it obviously was a terrible photo.  That. is. a. lie! If it was special to you then you shouldn't break yourself down, that causes you to lose confidence in yourself, which will not get you far in your business!

The first thing I chose to do when I started photography was to be open to instruction, learning and help other photographers in their times of struggle. Now that I think of it, look where it has gotten me! It's amazing what kindness and love can do huh?

We are all guilty of all of this.. Me, you, all of us.  We always tend to 'think' but don't speak, this is still a breaking point.  Many speak their mind others tend to keep it in their heads.  But that doesn't change anything, we still 'thought' of that persons photo the same way!

You're probably thinking "Oh just another one of these posts again" please don't think that way. ;) I hope you are reading this hoping to get better, as am I.  We must try and try and try to speak and think lovely thoughts about other people, someones photo, and photographers.  This is one of the big keys to a successful business!

Nobody's perfect we're all bent, but we can try our best to build each other up, by speaking in kindness, showing love to one another and thinking good thoughts towards them.  I challenge you as I challenge myself to do this! And try to do this throughout your whole lifetime!

If someone comes to you and says "Hey, your photos are ugly and terribly done."  that's is very hard to see and our quickest thought would be to say an ugly thing back or to share with the world of this persons mistake.  You should just reply with this simple message "Hello,  thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts! :) I will take a moment to pray for you."  you're right there staring at this screen like "What? She's saying thank you?! XD" Yes, I am. :) There is a time where you come back with a more firm tone, but with lots of kindness! Get them stunned at your attitude, they want you to blow up in their face. ;)  Use this as a learning experience.  Now, if they choose to paste it all over social media,  you still react with kindness but try to make them think about what they're doing. :) A lot of times this is driven by jealousy or they're just being plain evil.

Make others feel confident in their work, instruct them with kind but constructive words, And last but definitely not least show love to one another help them reach their goal, not for yourself but for them.

Build each other up not break them down.

I hope this was helpful, and I definitely hope you weren't offended. If you were, please re-read it and think about it. ;) Have a good week!!
