When did you start to pursue photography and why?

Ever since I was a toddler, I have loved photos of people.  My mom said that I used to look at family photo albums and tears would well up in my eyes.  Photos still overwhelm me with emotion--that emotion ranges from elation to utter sorrow--and I love ALL of it.  I have loved taking pictures since I had my first 24mm film camera.  I always cared deeply about composition and art in my photography, but I really didn't start to achieve it until I took my first film photography class at a local college.  I FELL desperately and hopelessly in love.  I bought my first digital camera (Canon PowerShot) in 2006, and I shot with that for years until I was tired of cell phone pictures looking better than mine!  haha!  I bought a Canon Rebel T3i when my twin boys were born and that's when people started asking me how much it would cost to do a photo shoot for them.  It is a dream come true to be a photographer.  I still have to pinch myself to know it's real.

Why do you love what you do?

I love capturing emotion.  I love capturing love.  I love that people will have these clear, beautiful, poignant pictures to cherish and remember a happy time in their past.  It humbles and overjoys me to be a part of that.
--

What is the most important thing that matters to you in your business?

That the photos I take tell their (the client's) story.
--

What is some your favorite photographic equipment to use on your shoots?

I shoot with a Canon 6D.  I am in love with that camera.  The 50mm is my baby.
--

What's your favorite time of day to shoot in?

I seriously love a cloudy, post- or pre- rain session.  I love the richness in the colors, the evenness.  Plus rainy days just make me feel warm and cozy and happy.  I'm weird like that!
--

If you were to give another photographer a piece of advice, what would it be?

Shoot everyday.  As often as you can.
